Art & Design

At Bishopswood we strive to teach an art curriculum that engages, inspires and challenges pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art and design.

At Bishopswood we aim to give all children, regardless of their ability, the opportunity to be an artist. Our art curriculum is built on these key principles;

 Art is about creativity, imagination and exploration of personal expression.

 Development of a range of technical art skills using a range of drawing, painting, printing and sculpture materials.

 Children given the opportunity to experiment with the use of colour, texture, form, line, shape and pattern.

 Children to be inspired by and engage with a wide range of artists and designers to and use this as an inspiration to their own work.

 Ensuring teachers hold high expectations and challenge children to achieve their highest potential.

The Roadmap below shows the journey that our children take as they progress through the Art & Design curriculum in our school. Our Art curriculum is progressive, broad and engaging.
